The choir was founded in Seinäjoki during the fall of 1989. The members of the group have varied from year to year, the present choir composes of 12 members, out of which five are original founding members. The choir won the first prize in a tape competition organized by the Sulasol Ostrobothnic region. In the Tampereen Sävel Festival in 1993 the choir acclaimed three silver stamps and in 2005 two silver stamps. In the national small choir competition organized in Seinäjoki by the Solasol Female Choir Organisation in 1999 Vartin Yli received the third prize and in Iisalmi in 2001 the choir received the first prize alongside with a trophy.
One of the highlights of the choir was the concert trip to Kenya in 1991. During the spring of 1996 the choir recorded an album called “Kohta kohoralla”, which consisted mainly of traditional Ostrobothnic sing-alongs. During 2002-2004 the choir members have been seen and heard of the stage of Seinäjoki City Theatre in different stage productions.
The choir performs all over the Ostrobothnic region. The repertoire varies from traditional music to more popular music and spiritual songs. The members of the choir have a strong background in youth choirs, the choir does not have a specific conductor, the responsibility of the leadership is shared equally between all the members.
